Health Literacy
Health literacy is an individuals ability to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and make appropriate health decisions, and includes how an individual is able to navigate and interact with health services and providers. Health literacy includes people’s expectations about health and well-being, and their understanding of health messages, medicine labels and nutrition information, as well as their ability to fill out medical forms and talk with their doctor. People with good health literacy can make informed and appropriate health decisions, and better manage their own health.
